Bocconotti in all their magnificence

Apulian bocconotti are made of shortcrust pastry, custard cream and sour cherry jam; they are characteristic sweets produced in Martina Franca, a baroque village situated in Valle d’Itria.
The name bocconotti derives from the sweets’size: in the past they were smaller than nowadays, you could eat one bocconotti at one gulp (“in un sol boccone”).
As Apulians, we are certain you will devour them regardless of their size because they are so tasty!

The queen of sweetness: almond paste

Almond paste is one of the Apulian traditional food farming products. It is appreciated for its exquisite flavour and its highly versatile use. You can employ it in several recipes: simply used as filling, to make pastries, biscuits or cakes.
In other Italian regions like Sicily almond pasteis used to prepare Marzipan Easter Lamb.

A royal food on your table: Apulian cartellate

Cartellate are typical Apulian Christmas sweets. They are made of a thin roll of dough folded up in its characteristic crown-shaped form. After deep-frying, cartellate are flavoured with honey, vincotto or powdered sugar at will.
